The Quiet Car Company
Founded in 2006, the QC Company is mainly focused on producing commercial hybrid cars and other electric cars. The company makes the Mega City that has a top speed of 40 mph, and an average range of 60 miles after an 8 hour charge. There are three different versions of this car, one specifically designed to be of benefit for city dwellers.
Mega City 2 + 2 happens to be the version of the car that is the biggest seller for the company. It is the safest electric car available and seats up to 4 people.
Mega City 2 this version is particularly popular for people that use their vehicles for work purposes, or may be like to do a lot of shopping as it boot has a capacity of 800 litres.
Then there is the Mega City E-City Pro, essentially all the same features as the Mega City 2 yet at a lower price.
EV Stores: My Car – the My Car is an Italian styled coupe electric car for 2 people, with a top speed of 40 mph and a maximum range of 68 miles after a charge of 5 to 8 hours.
The Micro Vette e500
Made to order by Fiat in Italy the Micro Vette e500 is the all electric version of the Fiat 500 with a top speed of 60 mph and an average range of 75 miles.
Quiet Car Company
The QC Company is based in Lymington and is recommended by the popular motor industry website The Used Car Guy and offers customers 2 cars to consider buying, both with a maximum range of around 65 miles. Quiet Car 1 is smaller and can reach 45 mph whilst it only takes 5 hours to recharge. The larger Quiet Car 2 is large enough to sit 5 people in, and can reach 55 mph.
The Maranello 4
The Italian built Maranello 4 is a two seater that can reach 30 mph and has a range of 40 miles. It comes with a three year guarantee whilst the battery is covered for two tears.
This model features British engineering alongside stylish Italian design, looking similar to the Smart car. There are two variants, the more powerful Li554 and the La253. The Li554 has a better battery so is faster and has a greater range.
Electric Cars in the UK
When this site debuted in 2006 electric cars, hybrid cars, and bio fuel cars was decidedly lacking. Now the choice is much better, and electric cars are no longer such a rarity on the high street.
Electric cars are not only good for the environment, they are really cost effective to run, as new and used electric cars are exempt from road tax and congestion charges in London. So it is green and good for your wallet too.
The Reva: G-wiz
The American designed was the first widely available electric cars in the UK, it’s two original models are now only able to be brought second hand. The newest model is the G-wiz i with a maximum speed of 50 mph, and a furthest range of 50 miles. It costs 50 pence for a full charge, far more economical than paying for a full tank of petrol.
Global Electric Motorcars, part of the Chrysler Group currently sell the e2 and e4 models, that have the same performance in terms of speed and range, they two and four seat cars respectively. A speed of 30 mph and a range of 30 miles is adequate considering they are used in inner city areas where traffic tends to move slowly in any case.
Smart Electric Drive
The Smart Electric Drive is a car with higher speeds and a greater range, 60 mph and 72 miles respectively. It also gives the option of a quick charge if you cannot spare the 8 hours for a full charge.
Alternatively there is hybrid cars, the batteries can be recharged when you switch to running the engine on diesel or petrol.
